Meet The Off Leash K9 Team
Meredith - owner & Head Trainer
Meredith Cox is the Owner and Head Trainer for Off Leash K9 Training Memphis LLC. Meredith grew up in a small town in South Carolina where she grew up around dogs, cats, and cows, and developed a passion and love for all animals! Her family rescued dogs of different breeds, and she discovered her passion for training dogs when she began working with her German Shepherd/Chow mix named Duke! A few years after getting her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and learning about Animal Behavior and Learning, she moved to Memphis, TN.
Along with training dogs to be reliable off leash in the most distracting environments, Meredith specializes in behavior modification. She works with dogs with dog aggression, human aggression, reactivity, and anxiety. After finding Off Leash K9 Training, Meredith trained under celebrity dog trainer and OLK9 founder Nick White where she learned to apply the techniques from this world-renowned dog training system to dogs of all ages, sizes, and breeds. Meredith has worked with hundreds of dogs of all breeds and temperaments. She is excited to offer lessons and our Board and Train program in the Memphis, West Memphis, Northern Mississippi, and Eastern Tennessee areas.
SArah - Team lead and trainer
Sarah grew up in the greater Memphis area and knew from the time she started talking that animals would be her lifelong pursuit. She took it upon herself at age 8 to start training the family dog; over the years Sadie learned a total of 26 commands but taught Sarah so much more about the behavior and learning process of dogs. Sarah has rescued, fostered, raised, and cared for countless animals – both domesticated and wild. She is a former Voluntary Zookeeper, Beekeeper, and Veterinary Science Teacher. She holds a bachelors in Agriculture Education that she has used to lead her to such careers as Veterinary Technician, Veterinary Practice Manager, and Dog Trainer/Admin.
While animals hold a huge spot in her heart, Sarah also loves connecting with our clients and building them up. Helping run our social media is one of the many ways she is able to interact with our amazing community of dog owners. She is proud to help offer the Board & Train program to the greater Mid-South, and with answering any questions clients may have along the way.
Leslie - Trainer
Leslie grew up in a small town in North MS, but has lived in TN with her husband and three children for the past twelve years. Currently, she and her husband are building a house on 10.5 acres in Fayette County. Leslie has had several pets throughout her life varying from hamsters, guinea pigs, cats, birds, and doesn’t remember a time without ever having a dog. She has a huge heart for all animals big and small. However, dogs are truly her best friends.
Over the years, Leslie has trained basic obedience along with a few tricks to several of her own dogs ranging from tiny Chihuahuas to German Shepherds. After watching her friend and future sister-in-law, Melina Lehen, train dogs with Off Leash K9 Memphis, she was inspired to join our team. Gaining more solid instruction under owner and head trainer, Meredith Cox, she has learned even more techniques of the trade and is up to the challenge of helping dogs live their best lives.
Leslie is thrilled to offer training through lessons and our Board and Train program for North MS, Memphis, and surrounding counties.
Morgan - Trainer
Morgan was raised in Ohio where she always had dogs growing up. She has always loved animals which inspired her to go to school for Equine Science and even owned her own horse. Morgan eventually joined the military and while there she continued her career with animals by becoming a veterinary technician. She has 3+ years of vet tech experience including emergency.
While working in the medical field, Morgan decided that she wanted to expand her knowledge and change paths by going to college and becoming a certified dog trainer. Morgan is certified as CACTP (Certified Advanced Canine Training Professional), and CCSTP (Certified Canine Sports Training Professional). She has gone through classes for health and nutrition, canine aggression, behavior/enrichment, and many more. Morgan has 2 dogs of her own, a German Shepherd mix named Bailey and a Husky named Keva!
We are so glad that Morgan is on our team! She is currently offering lessons and is our primary trainer for our Day-Training Program!
Alex - Trainer
Alex is Memphis born and raised and has always had a deep passion for animals of all types. Growing up home-schooled allowed Alex and their family many opportunities to learn about and interact with animals, and they even raised and successfully reintroduced to the wild two orphaned baby squirrels! Their Fiancé is a senior vet tech and together they live with dogs, cats, a snake, a leopard gecko, and even pet rats!
Alex has always had a natural intuition with dog behavior and learning, and even won a 4-H dog trick contest with their dog, Sadie! After training with Meredith Cox, Alex is excited to apply those same methods and techniques to help your dogs learn how to be the best version of themselves, and help owners learn how to understand and communicate with their dogs like never before!
Alex is looking forward to meeting your dog, and you too, and offers the Board and Train program, as well as lessons at our facility or in your home!
